Erich Gonzales’ stellar career in show business began in 2005, when she was hailed the Grand Questor in Star Circle Quest and subsequently signed by ABS-CBN as a Star Magic talent.
Proving to be a stand-out actress after playing supporting roles in Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit, Abt Ur Luv, Pieta and Sana Maulit Muli, Erich was immediately tapped to lead her own drama series starting with Katorse. The top rating series took Erich’s career to an all-time high and earned her the title of Breakthrough Star of 2009 from the entertainment news program, The Buzz.
Erich’s star continued to shine as she played major roles in the drama series Tanging Yaman; the Philippines’ first fashionserye, Magkaribal; the Filipino adaptation of Maria La Del Barrio, which was extended twice due to its excellent ratings and online trending records; the fantaserye Juan dela Cruz; and the family drama, Two Wives. She is currently seen in Be My Lady, her drama series with her real life boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga.
Erich has also made a name in the big screen by venturing in both independent and mainstream projects. She made her film debut with the Cinema One Originals entry Paano Ko Sasabihin?, which was soon followed by the romantic comedy I Do. She was also in the lead cast of the indie film Noy, which became the Philippines’ entry to the Best Foreign Language Film Category in the 83rd Academy Awards.
Her film Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang became the Highest Grossing Digital Film in 2012 with seven million pesos in ticket sales on its first day alone, branding her as the Philippine Box Office Queen for Digital Independent Film. She also made history that same year by teaming up with Thailand’s hearthrob Mario Maurer in the first ever Filipino-Thai film collaboration, Suddenly It’s Magic.
