Dayaw sifts through our pre-colonial past to discover the treasure troves of symbols for us to realize who we are as a nation. The program looks into the document called the "Boxer Codex" or the Manila Manuscript which records the pre-colonial fashion in the country. Art historian and antique collector Ramon Villegas then discusses the jewelry tradition in the country before the arrival of the Spaniards. The program also delves into the importance of the Laguna Copperplate Inscription in understanding ancient Philippine history. Finally, Dr. Mary Jane Bolunia, senior researcher in the archaeology division of the National Museum of the Philippines, talks about the funeral practices and burial customs in the country before colonization.
